Friendly outdoor cats, too! As mentioned, great hiking trails, and just a short 10 minute drive away is a civil war battlefield that has some longer hiking trails through fields and forest. Chef Jim was very accommodating and the entire staff were so customer friendly and enthusiastic about our visit. Meals were delicious and unique, and just the right sized portions, in my opinion. That we booked mid week and we're still in what I would think is the off-season, we kind of had the entire B&B to ourselves and only a couple other smaller groups, although even during busier times, the property and main lodge is large enough that it will accommodate a busy weekend without you feeling overly crowded. Decor in room was great! From the massages to the meals to the great hiking trails around a number of larger and small ponds, this was a 100% perfect experience for us. The room has its own private entrance down the staircase, so we were able to come and go without disturbing others and parked our car right outside the door. Large Jacuzzi tub in room is a nice add-on. Room has its own thermostat, a small kitchenette, living room area, DVD player and large flat screen (but no cable tv, which for us was a plus as we can watch tv anytime when we're home), dining table with 4 chairs, big "sleep number" bed, Keurig Coffee maker with decent selection of K-cups, and good sized bathroom and shower. We stayed in the Tuscany Manor Suite, that is on the second floor of the outbuilding (but a very short walk across the good sized parking lot to the main lodge) and the room was large and very comfortable. My wife and I both loved this Bed and Breakfast. I reserved the "Couples Weekend" package for a post Valentine's mid-week escape from the Kansas City area.
